  • CRICKET

SPREADS

Innings/Total Runs:

This is a spread on the total number of runs in an innings. In limited overs, bets are void if less than 90% of the scheduled overs are bowled. In a Test Match, an “incomplete 1st innings” is defined as any 1st innings in which a team has lost less than 8 wickets or fewer than 80 overs are bowled. A batsman who has retired hurt and does not return to the crease is considered out for the purpose of this rule. An “incomplete 2nd innings” is defined as any 2nd innings in which a team is not bowled out and fewer than 20 overs are bowled. In any Test Match innings/Total runs market, all open or closed bets will be void if the innings is incomplete.

An innings in which a team is bowled out is obviously complete, however many overs have been bowled.

Stop loss on Test match runs is 200 for this market and 100 on limited overs matches.

Session Runs:

This is a prediction on the total amount of runs scored in a session of a test match. A minimum of 20 (Twenty) overs in the session must be bowled for bets to stand, bets with less than 20 (Twenty) overs in the session will be void. This rule applies to both open and closed spread bets on the session. The stop loss on this prediction is 75 runs.

Opening Partnership/Partnership Runs:

This is a spread on the total score at the fall of the first/next wicket. If an innings is curtailed due to rain or ends before the fall of the first/next wicket or if a team declares then the partnership will be the total on which the innings ends.

A batsman who retires hurt is not considered out. All bets on this market will stand, regardless of interruption of abandonment of the match, if at least one ball is bowled in the innings.

Stop loss on partnership runs is 100.

15 Overs Total:

This is a spread on the innings total after 15 overs. Bets will be void if less than 15 overs are bowled. Changes to the fielding restrictions in rain affected matches will have no bearing on this market.

The stop loss on the 15 overs total and ten overs total is 50. All bets, whether open or closed out, will be void if 15 over isn't bowled.

6 Overs Total:

Ruling as per 15 Overs Total. Stop loss on this market is 50. All bets, whether open or closed out, will be void if 6 overs aren't bowled.

Batsman Runs:

This is a spread on the runs an individual batsman will score in an innings. All bets on this market will stand, regardless of interruption or abandonment of the match, if at least one ball is bowled in the innings after the batsman in question has come to the crease. On occasion the batsmen advertised/scheduled to open the batting are not the same as the opening batsman coming into the crease, in such an event all spread bets on the incorrect batsman will be voided and a new quote will be given on the correct batsman.

Supremacy:

This is a prediction of which team will win the match and the winning margin. If the team batting first wins the match the margin is in runs. The supremacy result is then settled as the winning margin. If the team batting 2nd wins the match, then the winning margin is in wickets. The supremacy result is settled as winning margin in wickets multiplied by 10.

As an example, SA bat first against England and scores 260 runs. The supremacy is set at SA/England 15 – 30. This bet is called as South Africa supremacy over England or more simply South Africa over England. You have two options. If you believe SA will win the match by more than 30 runs, i.e. prevent England from reaching 230, then you will bet high on the supremacy at 30. If you believe England will lose by less than 15 runs or will win the match, then you will bet low on the supremacy at 15. The supremacy has a favourite, which you can either back or oppose.

We look at the example of, you going high at 30 for R10 per point:

SA bowl England out for 190 runs. SA wins the match by 70 runs and this is the supremacy make-up. Your profit is (70 – 30) x R10 = R400. You were right by 40 points; therefore you win 40 times your stake.

England passes the SA score with 8 wickets down. This means that England wins the match by 2 wickets. The supremacy is settled at 10 points per wicket, therefore England is superior by 20 points. The original bet had SA as favourites over England, therefore the make-up on this bet is -20. Your loss is (-20 – 30) x R10 = R500.

If the second innings of a limited overs match is reduced in anyway, for whatever reason, all supremacy bets, whether open or closed, will be void.

In the event of a tie the supremacy is settled at 0.

The stop loss on this market as per the spreadbet staking guide is 150.

Supremacy in Test Cricket:

The same rules apply as per limited overs supremacy. Should the test end in a draw or a tie then the market result is zero. The stop loss on this markets, as per the spreadsbet staking guide is 150.

Batsman Head To Head:

This is a match bet between two batsmen, based on the runs each batsman scores in an innings or match. Both batsmen must be at the crease for at least one delivery, whether or not they receive that delivery. The spread supremacy stop loss/win is 100 runs. Dead heat rules apply to fixed odds bets.

All-rounder Head-to-Head:

This is a match bet between two players based on the following:

  • 1 point per run scored

  • 10 points per wicket

  • 10 points per catch or stumping

The winning all-rounders is the player with the highest points.

A caught and bowled will count as a catch and a wicket.

Supremacy stop loss/win is 100 points.

In the event of any horse within a bracket being scratched, there is no refund of stake whatsoever.

Similarly, in the event of the scratching of a horse within a bracket, no deductions will be applied to winning bets.

All bets on brackets are deemed valid as long as a minimum of one horse within the bracket starts a race.

You can choose which selection you feel will beat the other selection. It could be one horse in the race vs another horse in a race, or it could be a favourite against the field. Should your selection be scratched, or should the result be a dead heat, all match bets and head to head bets will be refunded. The maximum payout (to win amount) per matchbet for horse racing is R5000 per customer per matchbet selection per horse.

Tote Wins/Places:

SportsBet may offer tote places on selected races. The dividend will be paid out as per the official totalisator results declared on the specific horse.

Notwithstanding the pool size, Sportsbet reserves its right to limit the odds payable on places to a maximum of 50% over the fixed odds place starting price of the horse. The pay-out limit will be the lesser of the Saftote pool size and the value of the stake applied at the odds limit.

By way of example, if a horse has a starting place price of 2/1 and pays R5 for a place (odds of 4/1) on the totalisator and a customer has R1000 tote places, then the pay-out will be limited to odds of 3/1 and the winning bet will be R3000/R1000.

For the purpose of places, the saftote pool will be the nett place pool divided by the number of places declared in the race by the totalisator operator. The maximum stake allowable per customer, per horse for a tote win/place bet is R3000 for local (South African) racing and R2000 any other race meeting.

Ante-Posting Bets:

An ante-post bet is a bet placed on a horse race/sports event prior to final acceptances/start of sports event. Ante post bets are accepted on the basis of “all in run or not” (unless otherwise stipulated) i.e. if a selection does not take part the bet is deemed a loser.

An ante-post bet will be void where the race on which the ante-post bet has been placed is officially abandoned, the conditions of the race altered or if the venue of the race has been changed. Postponed Events:

Bets placed on a horse race that has been postponed for more than 24 hours will be void and the stake money refunded. This does not affect any part of a bet that has already occurred and in the case of a multiple the applicable leg/s will become null and void and the remaining bet stands.

For example, a treble with one leg being the abandoned race, will now become a double, calculated by the prices of the two remaining legs at the original time the bet was placed.

“All-to-come” Combination Bets:

The Double:

When a client selects two horses, over two different races to win – one horse in either race. Both horses have to win in order for this bet to be a winning bet.

The Treble:

The treble works on the same basis as the double, only the client selects three horses over three different races to win.

The Quad:

The quad works on the same basis as the double, only the client selects four horses over four different races to win.

Calculating “All-to-come” Odds:

Should you select two horses priced up at 2/1 and 4/1 selectively, to calculate a fixed-odds double you would do the following:

Example 1:

Take your first selection at 2/1 and add on a point (3/1). Take your second selection at 4/1 and add on a point (5/1). Multiply your “new” odds 3/1 and 5/1 and you will get 15/1. Now subtract one full point and you will get your full accumulated odds quoted to you. The above combination will provide you with odds of 14/1. Example 2:

Take your first selection at “odds on” at 6/10 and add on a point (1.6/1). Take your second selection at odds of 1/1 and add on a point (2/1). Multiply your “new” odds 1.6/1 and 2/1 and you will get 3.2/1. Now subtract one full point and you will get your full accumulated odds quoted to you. This combination will be quoted to you at 22/10. Special Multiple Bet (telephone betting only):

(This excludes bets placed as per our ante-post rules) All bets that have been placed on any other horse in the race prior to the scratching and that were in the betting (10/1 and less) will be subject to a deduction – as specified by the National deductions table.

Should you have a multiple bet, the stake money will automatically go forward to the next leg.

For Example:

A double becomes a straight bet and a treble becomes a double etc.

On a feature race, for example The July Handicap, any bets struck prior to the "final field" being announced will not be refunded. Once the final field is announced, the run and deduction rule applies.

Deduction Note: Any prices that fall between two ranges will default to the lower deduction percentage.

Dead-heat:

A “dead-heat” is declared should two horses/teams cross the line/finish at exactly the same time. When a dead-heat occurs for first place, the stake money on the winning selection will be divided by the number of winners and full odds paid on the reduced stake. The remainder of the stake is lost.

Where an each-way bet involves a dead heat winner, the win part of the bet will be settled as above and the place part will be settled in full, in accordance with the relevant place terms. Should the dead-heat only involve place selections and results in more than the allocated number of places, then the stakes will be divided as before and settled to the full place terms.

Official Pay-outs:

Once the stipendiary stewards have declared the race all clear to pay, all winning and losing bets will be settled to the relevant accounts.

If you have selected pick 3 numbers, then all three numbers have to be drawn for your bet to be a winning bet. If only two balls are drawn your bet will be a losing bet.

In GosLotto SportsBet may/will offer a market called GosLotto 1st 5 Balls Count. The GosLotto 6/45 has no bonus ball and six balls are drawn in the result. With the market 1st 5 Balls Count, SportsBet offers its customers the opportunity to play Pick 1 Plus Bonus Ball, Pick 2 Plus Bonus Ball, Pick 3 Plus Bonus ball - here we deem the last ball drawn as the Bonus Ball. If a draw does not have equal numbered normal balls and bonus balls, the bonus ball cannot be used as an ordinary number. Please note that the bonus ball can only be used as a regular number if the regular ball drum and bonus ball drum have the same amount of balls in each. Lesser balls in the bonus ball drum will not allow us to use the bonus ball as a regular ball.

Odds are structured around the bet types offered. All bets must be placed and confirmed before the 1st number in any draw is drawn. Should a bet be struck after the first ball is drawn, the bet will be void and the stakes will be returned, win or lose. If a Lotto Draw time is re-scheduled to another time within the 24 Hours of the advertised time of the draw, all bets on that draw will stand unless the bets placed are late. If a Lotto Draw time is re-scheduled by more than 24 Hours of the advertised time of the draw, all bets on that draw will be deemed void and the stakes will be refunded.

SPREADS

Supremacy:

SportsBet predicts which team will win the match and by how many points. The stop loss on the market is 40 points.

As an example, the Stormers are playing the Sharks at Newlands. We set the supremacy at Stormers/Sharks 4 – 7. You now have two choices. The first option is to bet that the Stormers will win the game by more than 7 points; to take this option you go high at 7. The second option is to bet that the Stormers will win by less than 4 points or the Sharks will win the game; to take this option you go low at 4.

As an example, assume you go low on the supremacy at 4 for R10 per point. You believe that the Sharks will do better than we predict. The final result is the Stormers win by 16 points. The bet is settled at (4 – 16) x R10 = R120 loss.

If the result had been the Sharks by 16 the profit would have been

(4 – (-16) x R10 = R200

Home/Away Supremacy:

This is a combination bet on the nominated games. The result is calculated by adding up the points scored by the home sides and the points scored by the away sides and subtracting the two. The stop loss on this market is 80 points.

Total Points:

This is a spread on the total points scored in the match, i.e. the scores of the two teams added together. Stop loss is 40 points.

Time of 1st Try:

This is a spread on the minute in which the first try in the match will be scored. Penalty tries are included.

If 3 minutes and 45 seconds have elapsed, then the try is scored in the 4th minute. If no try is scored, then the make-up is 80. This is the maximum make-up for the bet and used in place of a stop loss/win. The minimum make-up is 0 and the maximum is 80. If no try is scored in the first half, then the quote is updated at half time. This bet is not quoted in running.

The TV Clock as shown on South African TV will be used to determine the time of the first try.

Shirt Numbers:

This spread is calculated by adding up all the jersey numbers of the try scorers in the match. A penalty try counts 8 points towards this spread. The stop loss for this market is 40 points and an updated quote is given at half time.

If a player changes his jersey his original number will apply. If a player starts the match with a Jersey number that is inconsistent with his position, then the correct number for that position will apply. The maximum jersey number is 23.

Amount of Tries:

This is a quote on the amount of tries scored in the match. The stop win/loss on this market is 6.

Betting in Running:

Only Supremacy, Handicap, Outright and Total Points are quoted in running. The other markets are all quoted on live matches and most are updated at the half time break. Where a match is not shown live only Supremacy and Total Points will be quoted. No bets will then be placed after the scheduled start time of the match.

Extra Time:

All Quotes are for 80 minutes of play. Injury time is considered to be part of the 80 minutes of play. The 1st half ends after 40 minutes and the match ends after 80 minutes. Any points scored during injury time are considered to be scored in the 40th or 80th minute respectively and form part of the 80-minute match.

Any extra time played to separate teams after a draw in the knockout stage of a competition do not count for any of the 80-minute quotes. Separate quotes will be given for cases where extra time is played.

Percentage Win Index:

The index is quoted between 0 and 100. The spread relates to the quoted teams’ chance of winning the game. A win is settled at 100, while any other result is settled at 0. The spread is quoted in-running. There is a minimum make up of 0 and a maximum make up of 100.

As an example, England are playing SA at Twickenham. England are favourites and the England Percentage Win Index is quoted at 62 – 72. If you believe England have a better than 72% chance of winning the game, then you go high at 72. If you believe their chances are less than 62% you go low at 62. This is equivalent to backing South Africa or the draw. As the match progresses the quote will move up or down according to England’s chance of winning. An early SA try would bring the quote down to around 45 – 55, while an early England try would push it up.

A percentage Win Index is not quoted on the underdog and draw as this would simply be the inverse of the quote on the favourite. In the example above a low bet at 62 on England is the same as a high bet on SA at 38.

FIXED ODDS

All fixed odds bets in rugby apply to 80 minutes play (or 15 minutes play for IRB 7's) and injury time as per the spreads rule. Any extra time is not included. If a match is postponed before kick-off and played within 48 hours of the original start time all bets will stand. Bets on any match that is abandoned or postponed after the kick-off are void.

Outright Win:

This is a Bet on the result of a match. In the event of a draw bets on both teams are losers and bets on the draw are winners.

Handicap Win:

SportBet may offer several handicap bets on a rugby match. The result of the bets is determined after the handicapped team’s score. A handicap draw result or a 0.5-point handicap is quoted for all handicap bets.

For example, the Stormers are quoted at (-7) against the Sharks. The final result of the match is 23 – 18 to the Stormers. After handicapping the Stormers with 7 points the result is a 16 – 18 win to the Sharks. If you had backed the Stormers or the draw on handicap you would be a loser. If you had backed the Sharks, you would be winner.

SportsBet may offer a range off handicap bets on live matches. The greater the handicap against your choice, the better the price you receive. The greater the handicap in favour of your choice, the shorter the price you receive. The draw option is quoted in every case.

Draw No Bet:

This is a bet where you can select the winner of the match in regular time. Should the result be a draw then all bets are refunded/voided.

Race to 10 Points:

This is a bet on which team will score ten (10) points first. If neither team scores ten (10) points, then all bets on this market are void.

Winning Margins:

This is a bet where you can select which margin you believe a team will win by. For example, if you believe that Sharks vs WP, that Sharks are going to beat WP by 7 points, then you will select the Sharks between 6-10 points. In the event of a draw, all bets will be refunded.

First Scoring Play:

This is a bet where you can select how the first points of the match are scored. Should there be an unlikely result that no points have been scored, all bets will be refunded.

First Team to Score:

This is a bet where you can select which team will score the first points of the match. The manner in which the points are allocated is immaterial, it will simply be resulted on the first team with points on the board. Should there be no points scored in the match then bets will be refunded.

First Half Result:

This is a bet where you can select what the result of a rugby match will be at halftime. All bets include injury time.

This is a bet where you can select the handicap on the match at half time. You will be given a choice between two selections (namely for example WP -7.5 and Sharks +7.5) with a half a point added onto the quote to assure a result.

Halftime/Fulltime Result:

This is a bet where you can select which team will be ahead and half time and at fulltime. For example, if you select Sharks Western Province then you are predicting that the Sharks will be leading the match at halftime and that WP will win the match. You will see you will be able to select the combinations between the teams and then you will also be given a "any other result" bet which would allow for tied scores etc.

1st Stoppage in Play:

This is a bet where you can select what the first stoppage in play will be, i.e. Line Out/Throw In etc. It is important to note in this market that the event of a quick throw in after the ball has gone out is deemed as a stoppage in play.

Winning Margins to 12.5 Points:

This is a market where you can select the winning margins to 12.5 points. Please note that the draw is quoted in the betting on this market and applies to a draw in the result of the match.

Will one team win both halves?: This is a market where you can select whether or not one team will win both halves. Whoever scores the most points in that half will be deemed the winner of that half. Please not that this is not the same as halftime/fulltime. As the name suggests this is a market where you can select a "yes" or a "no".

Should a match venue be changed then bets already placed will stand providing the home team is still designated as such. Should the home team and the away team be reversed, the all bets placed on the original listing will be void.
